Rojda Aykoç (born Kadriye Şenses in 1978), also known as Rojda Şenses or simply Rojda, is a contemporary Kurdish singer. ==Biography== She was born in the village of Tütün, in the Kurtalan district of Siirt province, Turkey.〔http://www.siirtnews.com/haber-5439-dengb%C3%AAj_kadinlarin_isyani_%E2%80%98kez%C3%AE%E2%80%99.html〕〔(Short Autobiography ), Rojda's Official Website.〕 After finishing primary school, she moved to Istanbul in 1991 and began working and singing in local music bands along with her brother ''Çiya''. From 1991 she began working with the group ''Koma Gulên Xerzan'', and from 1993 with ''Navenda Çanda Mezopotamya'' (Mesopotamia Cultural Center). In 1997 she worked with an 11-woman group ''Koma Asmîn''. On February 20, 2010, Rojda was among a group of 160 Turkish artists〔http://www.ifex.org/turkey/2010/03/30/rojda_sentenced/〕 invited to Istanbul to meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and discuss his government's "Kurdish opening" initiative.,〔 but she did not attend the meeting because of her arrest.
